MRP Hotel-Update Vienna 2014

04/03/2014 Vienna

In 2013, the Viennese hotel market grew again in absolute terms. Occupancy rates remained stable to a large degree, despite the pessimistic predictions made by industry representatives. The average prices of STR reporting companies, however, declined by 3.2%.

The average room occupancy has dropped slightly by 1.3% to 71.3%. The average rate of € 94.81 has fallen by 3.2%. This means that new openings in the past year were not characterised by a larger number of guests, as they faced cutthroat competition in their start-up phase.

The development in the deluxe segment was eagerly awaited. Occupancy and average prices declined slightly in the first half of the year, but increased significantly in the second half. This was due to the openings of two luxury hotels (Sans Souci, Palais Hansen) which still have to establish themselves in the market in their first two years of operation.
